Jonathan Glynn, 17,
(known as Jay in racing circles.) was thrown from his blue Citroen Saxo when it plunged down an embankment near York at 4.50pm on Saturday 23rd September 2006.
His girlfriend of 18 months, Robyn Wishart, 15, was airlifted to hospital and is said to be stable but critical. Her family, from Maltby Court, Colton, were today keeping vigil at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
Jonathan and Robyn had been travelling on the A64, near the junction with the A19 Fulford interchange, after a day out at Flamingo Land.
Jonathan, of Templegate Road, Colton, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Jonathan is an apprentice mechanic and had scooped a string of awards and trophies. At the start of this year, he was given a new bike as his 17th birthday present and aimed for the top in the 2006 Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship Cup.

Cortege will leave from his residence on Thursday, October 5, at 11.45 a.m., for service and cremation at Lawnswood Crematorium at 12.20 p.m., followed by a celebration of Jay's life at the Ramada Jarvis, North Leeds, Seacroft. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Jay may be given to the Chris Jones Memorial Fund, in aid of the Air Ambulance Service, a collection box will be available at the service.

Hello my darling, you know you're always in our thougthts, every minute, every day.
It was the inquest on your accident today. They said it was accidental death due fatigue. They are sure that you were asleep my little man and you didn't know anything about it. You'd come in late in the early hours of the morning and only had a few hours sleep. If only you had not had to get up early to go out - you were too tired to drive.
There was nothing wrong with your car, it was in good condition, you were driving sensibly, you weren't going very fast - about 54mph on a 70mph road. You had had a late night, little sleep, a fun and full day at the park and then a long drive back. You'd just fallen asleep. I hope you were still asleep when the accident happened because then you're last thoughts would have been about you're happy day out and not of those last few minutes. It wasn't your fault babe, just a tragic accident.
We love you and we're missing you so much Jay, stay close and let me know you're OK and having fun with Chris, Ashley, Jonathan, Carl and all your other new friends. Hope you're showing them how to mix those basslines.

I've known Robyn for many years. Shes such a lovely girl who would help anybody out no mata there situation... she didn't deserve this to happen to her... no-one does... shes fancied him ever since year 8 n when she started goin out with him in year 9 she was so happy... not only were they attracted to each other... they were very close even before that.As well as l sing her boyfriend shes lost her best mate. She always said she wasn't just his girlfriend ... she was also his best mate and sister. i didn't really know Jay that well but Robyn never stopped talking about him so i feel like i know him well... she loved him with all her heart. Jay is now her angel whatching over her in heaven... I would give anything to bring him back for her but theres nothing i can give that will do that. He will always hold a special place in her heart which can never be replaced by anyone. All of her friends are here to support her through this terrible time and although we cant replace Jay or bring him back... we can still be here for her. i hope with all my heart that she makes a full recovery. Today was a very hard day for all of year 11, and for those who knew robyn and jay at temple moor high school. Robyn is a lovely girl and friend. we have known each other for 11 years now, and although we have gone our seperate ways, robyn was the sort of lass that you could go back to and have a giggle and a natter with. i never had the chance to meet jay but i know robyn loved him dearly. i wish i had met him but having read the posts on the leeds cruize website i gather he was a great fella and loved by many. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before,but i wish it never to happen again. It has made me realise how important friends are and alwas will be. I would like to say well done for those who stayed strong today and will, while robyn recovers from this horrific incident. Get well soon Robyn, my thoughts are with your family and jay's family. I pray to god if there is one,To guide a friend robyn to recover fully,i feel so sorry i never talked to jay and never had my own opinons of him, The side i heard about was different side from the truth, after reading the messages on the leeds cruize website i feel guilty not giving jay a proper chance. you were a great rider and really enjoyed spending time on track with you (and getting the occasional tow too)
we didn't really meet much in the paddock but always knew you were about and when you came past me (most sessions) i learned something each time.
