Jonathan Glynn, 17,
(known as Jay in racing circles.) was thrown from his blue Citroen Saxo when it plunged down an
embankment near York at 4.50pm on Saturday 23rd September 2006.
His girlfriend of 18 months, Robyn Wishart, 15, was airlifted to hospital and is said to be stable
but critical. Her family, from Maltby Court, Colton, were today keeping vigil at the James Cook
University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
Jonathan and Robyn had been travelling on the A64, near the junction with the A19 Fulford
interchange, after a day out at Flamingo Land.
Jonathan, of Templegate Road, Colton, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were
involved in the accident.
Jonathan is an apprentice mechanic and had scooped a string of awards and trophies. At the start of
this year, he was given a new bike as his 17th birthday present and aimed for the top in the 2006
Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship Cup.

Hello my darling, you know you're always in our thougthts, every minute, every day.
It was the inquest on your accident today. They said it was accidental death due fatigue. They are
sure that you were asleep my little man and you didn't know anything about it. You'd come in late in
the early hours of the morning and only had a few hours sleep. If only you had not had to get up
early to go out - you were too tired to drive.
There was nothing wrong with your car, it was in good condition, you were driving sensibly, you
weren't going very fast - about 54mph on a 70mph road. You had had a late night, little sleep, a fun
and full day at the park and then a long drive back. You'd just fallen asleep. I hope you were still
asleep when the accident happened because then you're last thoughts would have been about you're
happy day out and not of those last few minutes. It wasn't your fault babe, just a tragic accident.
We love you and we're missing you so much Jay, stay close and let me know you're OK and having fun
with Chris, Ashley, Jonathan, Carl and all your other new friends. Hope you're showing them how to
mix those basslines.

Jay, although i hadnt known you long you seemed to be a sound young guy and i doubt i'll ever forget the day we did the charity gumball for cancer research. although you had the slowest car there and were most definately the under dog, you somehow managed to pick the best way round the route and despite rain so heavy that landrovers were struggling to get anywhere and loosing not only your exhaust- which is the point most would have given up- but also half of your body kit you somehow managed to get back to the start 20 mins before anyone else. how you did it we'll never know but rest assured we'll be doing next years in your memory.
all the posts from your friends on various websites prove that not only does everyone love a good under dog story they loved you. hope everything is going well where ever you are but dont let the party get going too much without us. see you in a while mate
i dont even know where to start.
i cant belive your gone, we all miss you so much.
the last 2 days have been awfull, moping around all day not knowing what to do with myself, them going out to meet everyone at night, trying to keep a brave face on all night, as im sure everyone else is trying to do.
we al left you loads of flowers where u crashed tonight mate.
we also found all your car bits, we've put them all in a pile for you incase you need them.
i know u were there tonight, i could hear you, somewhere in the distance talking to us, saying not to be sad, but its so hard not to be sad, you were like a brother to most of us. and all the lasses loved you.
dane is fully gutted. but we're all looking after him for you mate.

Far too young, will never be forgotten
Jay was such a character, never stressed about anything. Should have held the record for the car with the most amount of fixing to do, how he wasnt phased by that i have no idea.
He only passed his test early this year, then started to meet us at Colton, where we enjoyed many a late night chit chat and drives to Wakey, Ponty and the likes.
He was also the first car bar my own to bear the leedscruize stickers, good on ya lad :)
Jay, remember that drunken scottish guy at McDonalds :) thatl make you chuckle :)
Everyone is still in shock, it hasnt sunk in yet what has actually happened. It seems like every night we wait for him to come screaming round the corner... but every night he doesnt.
Forever missed, never forgotten.
Race in Paradise Jay, were all thinking about you.
